About the School

American School of The Hague will be hosting the 2016 European Powerschool User Group Conference.

American School of The Hague is a private, co-educational, college-preparatory, day school founded in 1953, which has committed itself to meeting the educational needs of the American community in The Netherlands and of other international families who wish to follow the school’s American curriculum. The majority of the student population comes from the international community in The Netherlands. Approximately twenty-seven percent of the students are United States citizens. Seventy-seven different nationalities are represented in the student body. American School of The Hague is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and The European Council of International Schools. American School of The Hague admits students of any race, color, nationality and ethnic origin.

The School is located in Wassenaar, a residential community near The Hague. The school serves a student population of 1,200 at its Main Campus (11 acres) and Early Childhood Center (3.5 acres). The two campus locations offer spacious classrooms, specialized teaching areas, wireless internet, centrally located libraries plus separate Elementary School and Early Childhood libraries totaling 46,600 volumes, computer and science laboratories, two cafeterias, excellent spaces for the arts, including a 474-seat theater, music/movement classrooms; studio spaces for art, photography and multi- media; and for athletics: two gymnasia, two Sport halls and playing fields. The new facility for our Early Childhood students, aged 3 – 6, opened for the 2013 – 2014 school year. In addition, Teddy Kids offers a Day Care facility for children aged 0 – 2 years old.

The instructional program emphasizes preparation for higher education in the United States and the many countries of the world. A minimum of twenty-four full-year credits are required for graduation.
